It’s Fall—time for a catch up

Where to start?

Let’s start with the good news, my husband is almost recovered from being hit by a car over a year ago now. He still walks with a limp and needs a walking stick or cane if he is walking any distance greater than the inside of our condo. He is riding again and taking care of the housework! As you know I stopped doing customer quilts for many months as I just couldn’t keep up with everything.

I’ve passed the one year mark with my job with BERNINA of Canada—what a learning curve and what a great company. I think I have one of the best bosses in the world. She’s smart as a whip, hard working and kind—a great combination in any person.

I still volunteer with my quilt guild—this keeps me grounded and connected in a way that might not happen if I wasn’t intentional about this.

Now onto the icky news—I was hacked—it has been worked out but I found out many of my emails to this account were not actually getting to me but someone out there—so apologies if I didn’t respond like you thought I might.

My mother also went into comfort care and passed a few days later—that was less than two full weeks ago—so the grief process is still fresh. We all grieve differently and I’m a bit surprised by my own reaction to the grieving process.

That’s my yearly update in a nutshell.

What’s Next You Ask?

So many great things are happening in my life.

I’ve started taking in customer quilts again—it feeds my creative process and I love doing this. We did four quilts at the beginning of August and I have another two in the que. I also have a pile of my own tops to do so I see weekend quilting in my future.

I will continue to volunteer—I think everyone should volunteer someplace. We are a better stronger community and country if we all give back just a bit. I started volunteering in highschool as a candy striper in the hospital. Looking back there were ever only a few times in my life I wasn’t volunteering as I believed I was just too busy with life. How sad for me that I thought that.

I’m shopping for a new sewing/embroidery machine. You know it’s going to be a BERNINA—I just can’t decide which one. I’ve narrowed it down to two. Budget could be my deciding factor between wants and practicality.

I’m learning a new embroidery software—you know me—always have to be stretching my brain a bit. I’m looking forward to making some great quilt labels.

I’m falling back in love with machine embroidery there is something soothing about watching the machine create something beautiful.

I’ve got a big birthday coming up so am going to celebrate with friends and family for an afternoon of cards and cake—noting big, nothing fancy but surrounded by people I care about and who care about me.

That’s it for now….

That’s my life in a compact form. Thanks for keep with me during this year of non-quilting, non-sewing. Stay tuned as future posts will be much more quilty/sewing in nature.
